TRANSITION TO ISO 9001:2008


Hellenic Accreditation System has adopted ISO and IAF announce schedule for implementation of accredited certification to ISO 9001:2008”, where are stated the transition period for the implementation of ISO 9001:2008 and the expiration date of ISO 9001:2000. Therefore, the certificates according to ISO 9001:2000 are valid until November 15th 2010. After that date, only the certificates according to ISO 9001:2008 will be considered as valid.
Taking into account that the transition period, from the issue date of ISO 9001:2008, is 24 months:
            From November 15th 2009, Certification Bodies shall only issue accredited certificates (new certificates and recertifications) according to ISO 9001:2008.
            The organisations holding certificates to ISO 9001:2000 shall adopt the new Standard and take all the necessary measures in order to assure the renewal of their certificates before the completion of the transition period.
            After November 15th 2010, certificates according to ISO 9001:2000 will not be valid. 
            Certification Bodies shall inform ESYD, at the latest until November 15th 2009, about their readiness to certify according to ISO 9001:2008. ESYD will assess Certification Bodies’ competency during the regular surveillances.
New certificates issued according to ISO 9001:2008 before ESYD’s surveillance, are covered by ESYD’s accreditation since the Organisations’ activities are included in the current Scope of Accreditation of the Certification Body.
