Food Tech Updates: KERALA-DUBAI TWINNING PROGRAM-FOOD SAFETY REGIME TO GET A BOOST

The article published in a blog of Dr.Potty discusses about the twinning program on food safety between Kerala state in India and UAE. Many people from Kerala are working in UAE and arabian countries. Also UAE has strict rules which has to be followed including food safety and quality measures are taken in to consideration when the topic comes under food safety. According to Kerala government, food safety can be achieved only through strict validation process and control of products. Though the plan seems to quite good, there is a problem with the plan that UAE is not very well known for food safety standards.

In UAE they follow the western food safety standards and most of the workers in their food industries are from western countries or from India. Also, agriculture is null in UAE and so they import most of the products which are checked for safety and quality in the produced countries. So, the plan seems to be quite meaningless. In my view, kerala or India can have a tie up with European countries such as France, UK or Germany to make a food safety policy using the expertise from food safety consultancies or bodies in european countries.
